Curious about the status of an appeal?
The appeals process moves much differently than a case in the trial courts. While some appeals may be decided within a year, others may take longer. During this time, those represented by appointed counsel on appeal should contact that attorney regarding the status of the case.
Case Look Up Instructions
Keeping up to date on a case is also possible by looking up the case on the Second District Court of Appeal website’s “Search” page.
- Go to the Search page and enter either the Court of Appeal or trial court case number (this can be found on the Order Appointing Counsel or any other document the attorney has filed in the case). It is also possible to search by name in adult criminal case.
- Once you have found the case, click on the “Docket” tab for a list of actions taken in the case.
